The Kitchen

Mari grinned. "I did some theatre in high school. I was always cast as the supporting role."

"Hmm ... I think I feel some community theatre coming on!" Max joked.

Mari grinned. "Only if you forced me to would I."

"Well, that's not a straight no, so it looks like I still have hope."

Mari grinned. "Acting's fun, and I can play more colorful characters, but I have issues with black and white characters."

"Oh don't worry about that - I know more than enough psychologically deep and delightul characters! I don't suppose there's any chance you're free to show me the rehearsal spaces now, are you?"

((Oops! I knew I needed to make something! One moment!))

Mari nodded. "Yeah, we can head over there right now. You know, I've always had a secret love of theatre..." She eyed her friend. "You know, I have some kids in the cancer ward who would love to be able to see a play. But, due to certain things, they can't leave the hospital. Would you and the troop be willing to perform something small for the kids?"

((Haha~ no worries!))

"Of course! It would be my absolute pleasure, I haven't done any charity work in ages! Is there anything in particular you'd like us to perform?"

Mari smiled. "Anything. The kids would love it. Some of them just don't have the strength to fight, and their parents know it. Maybe seeing someone having fun with theatre would help them a bit." She swiped at a tear. "The cancer kids get me every time."

Max patted her back consolingly. "It can't be an easy job." she murmured. "But perhaps Peter Pan would cheer them up - I'm sure I can call in a few favours and get some old friends to do a few workshops if you'd like, as well?"

Mari nodded. "That'd probably work. And that would be great. I'd help, but I'd be in the way," she said, giggling slightly. "Sorry. I blame mood swings."

"Oh don't be sorry! Come on then, let's have a gander at this basement of yours."

Dimitri strolled into the kitchen, dressed in more casual attire as he approached the counter and opened the cookie jar. His stomach rolled and he took a bit of heavenly chocolate and cooked dough... nothing like a good chocolate chip cookie.

Mari looked up from her book The Da Vinci Code. "Oh, hello! You must be the new hero I've been hearing! Well, one of the two. I'm Mari, by the way." She rubbed her ear. "Marisol Gallagher. I own the Hospital right down the road. Can I get your name please? That way the ringing will go away?"

Dimitri all but dropped his cookie as he heard the woman's voice behind him.
"Yes, I'm new to Superville." he nodded, smiling and wiping a few crumbs from his chin. "Dimitri Llewellyn and it is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Gallagher or is it Mrs?" he asked, chuckling softly.

Mari grinned. "Take a seat. I don't bite." She waved a seat out with her mind and used a barrier to make a glass with which she got some water. "Miss for the time being. I'll soon be Mrs. Blake Seaton. But, please, call me Mari." She rubbed her left ear again. "What are your powers?" she asked.

"Ah, very well then, I'll take the seat then." he smiled, sitting down. Impressed with her powers, he raised a white eyebrow and nodded. "Congratulations then, Mari. I'm sure he's a lucky fellow." Folding his arms, he leaned back in the seat.
"Strength, light flashes and speed or agility if you prefer. And yours?"

Mari grinned. "Barriers, telepathy, and my ear. I can detect new heroes that I don't know their name. When I know their names, it goes away. It also detects villains, and even if I learn their name it doesn't go away." She rubbed her stomach. "Yeah, we're excited."

Nodding, Dimitri stored what she'd said away for future storage. It helped to know things about ones new friends.
"Ah okay, sounds like that would come in handy a lot. You have a lot of villain problems here?" He rubbed his mustache.
"Sorry, I don't follow the news much, that's my wife's job."

Mari shrugged. "Sometimes, yes, sometimes no. Villains vary. Heroes most of the time stay the same."

She grinned. "Well, you'll probably hear this before your wife. I'm pregnant so I've been assigned figurative desk duty. I'm not allowed near my costume or anything, so... I've been working tons lately."

Dimitri nodded.
"Congratulations again then, Mari. Children are a blessing I've heard." He liked kids, enough to have not had them himself, after all, if you couldn't give a child one hundred percent of your time... it was better to not have one, in his humble opinion. He knew Vala hadn't agreed him him totally on that, but time had.

Blinking, Vala felt her husband's presence within the kitchen through her hand against the door and with his unfinished brief in hand, she made her way into the room. She smiled softly as she found him in conversation with a pleasant looking woman and approached silently.

"Dimitri, did you put Jelly away?" she asked, eyebrow raising.

Mari looked at the woman who just entered the room. "Jelly?" she asked, leaning back in her chair, using her power to pull the coffee over to her. "I'm Mari, by the way. Marisol Gallagher. I own the hospital just down the road."

Dimitri looked up as his wife entered.
"Ah, Mari this is Vala, my wife." His nose wrinkled slightly. "And Jelly is her lizard."
"I put the creature away... I swear." he sighed, rolling his eyes. Oh how he hated that reptile.

Ignoring her husband's sworn statement, Vala smiled at Marisol.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Doctor Gallagher."
